Na původní úzké a hluboké gotické parcele byl v roce 1911 po demolici obytného domu s prodejním parterem postaven obchodní dům pro podnikatele s nábytkem Franze Kleina. V roce 1911 šlo o konstrukčně, provozně a prostorově progresivní stavbu. Objekt bylo nutné – vedle požadavků vyplývajících z nového provozu Českého rozhlasu – přizpůsobit současným statickým, protipožárním, tepelnětechnickým a hygienickým normám. V průběhu projektování jsme se úporně snažili zachovat viditelnou nosnou strukturu domu a nezničit celistvost a sošnost centrálního prostoru.
On the original narrow and deep Gothic plot, a department store for furniture entrepreneur Franz Klein was built in 1911 after the demolition of a residential building with a sales floor. In 1911, it was a progressive building in terms of construction, operation and space. In addition to the requirements arising from the new operation of Czech Radio, the building had to be adapted to current static, fire protection, thermal engineering and hygiene standards. During the design process, we tried hard to preserve the visible supporting structure of the house and not to destroy the integrity and sculptural character of the central space.
